I have been married to my best friend for one year today! It doesn't feel like it has been a year, but in thinking it over I realize all that we have done in our first year of marriage.
The wedding is still fresh in my mind and I hope it stays that way forever. It was such a whirlwind day that was over in a blink of an eye. It was also a perfect and magical day that I am so glad I spent so much time and money to create. It was worth everything. I am so glad our friends and family shared in the day and have sweetly reminded us they are thinking of us again today.
Well the "honeymoon" phase didn't last long once we were married, but the hubs and I had been together for 7 years before we said I do. We'd already had a long honeymoon stage while dating. We knew each others habits and had already lived together for a few years so it wasn't a big surprise once we were married. Our plan had been to be sure before we got married so that we could live Happily Ever After. And so far, we have.
The first year has brought challenges for sure. The hubs was in school and worked odd jobs and long hours to bridge the gap. We slowly edged toward separation from the in-laws in order to create our own family, while still maintaining the close loving support of those who want to share in our life. We fought about money, careers, and the future, but I know that those fights have only brought us closer together and have allowed us to learn each others dreams.
The first year has also brought unspeakable joys and happiness. I am the happiest I have ever been in my life. When I say my prayers at night I always thank God for bringing the hubs into my life and giving us everything we have today. Over the year we have been able to travel and spend good quality time together. We have shared new memories and experiences that I will never forget. We have spent time with friends and family and are eager to continue expanding our family to include everyone we love.
Regardless of whether the next year brings more firsts like becoming parents or buying our first house, I know it will be a great year. I am looking forward to the future but am sure enjoying living in the present.
I love you MTL! Happy One Year!
